Potato is the real Rose
Most people, when they want to express love to a girlfriend, wife, mother or any other significant person in their life, will quickly go out and purchase roses of some quantity beautifully gift wrapped. When asked whether they would consider a potato, they laugh and say that a potato is far too ugly to give as a gift. But, in many ancient cultures a potato was considered the greatest symbol of love as far as plants are concerned.
This is because, a rose, while pretty, will die within a few days unless planted. A potato, however, will grow on its own without even the presence of water. It gets grows sprouts and will embed itself in the nearby dirt. If left alone a potato will thrive and create new potato plants, eventually yielding a crop. This, as far as many peoples were concerned, was great reason to give a gift of a potato to symbolize love.
