Rednecks

The term ‘redneck’ was primarily urban slang originating in the early years of the country. Coined by colonial urbanites in reference to the farm tending poorer population that would frequently visit the city to trade. This term originally referred to the red hue of the necks of those hard working farm people that was frequently colored with sunburn because of long hours tending crops.

However recent usage has expanded to cover people of all types that ‘keep their Christmas lights out on their front porch all year long’ from the general rural or mountainous regions of the country. To some, it has become a point of pride, to others, a mark of scorn.

Sand

Sand, as many are unaware, is made from the ground up carcasses of shellfish and the bones of traditional fish. The movement of the ocean grinds their bodies against the rocky sea floor, shredding their bones and shells, resulting in the mass of sand we see today. This sand also contains the remains of pulverized garbage and sea captains that have drowned in the briny deep. So remember, as you lay there sunning yourself, that you are laying on a veritable ocean cemetary and that soft white sand is actually millions of years of death and decay.
